It is usually possible to get tickets for Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tomorrow, even if the official site has sold out. Here’s how.

How easy is Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey to get into?
Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey in Normandy is one of the most popular tourist attractions in France. And, unfortunately, popular can often mean “difficult to get into”.
But is this abbey on a World Heritage-listed tidal island one of those European attractions that require booking well in advance?
Can you get Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tickets tomorrow?
I thought I’d test it out, looking on a Friday evening to see whether there were any tickets left for the Saturday. And not just any Saturday – one in the middle of the August peak season.
Using the Monuments Nationaux site, the official seller of Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey admission tickets, there was no joy. I attempted to click on Saturday for the tickets, and it was blanked out.
There were no next-day tickets left for Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey.
There were some tickets left for Sunday, but for limited timed entry windows, and a smattering available for the following week. But that’s no good if you’re in the area, and want to get in tomorrow.
The workaround: How to get next-day tickets for Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey
However, there is a way round this. Sometimes third party sites have tickets available when the official site does not. This is sometimes because tour operators buy a batch of tickets in advance, and sometimes due to the way tickets are allocated.
The reason doesn’t matter, though. All that matters is that sometimes, you can get into Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey by going indirect.
Finding Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tickets for tomorrow – in August
When I trawled the main third party tour and experience booking sites, I found GetYourGuide and Tiqets still had tickets available for tomorrow. Or, rather, a ticket.
Both had literally one ticket left – GetYourGuide at 3pm and Tiqets at 1pm. But, for a solo traveller desperate for a ticket, this will do.
Both sides also had decent availability for the following few days.
Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey ticket prices
Importantly, it doesn’t cost any more to book these Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tickets via a tours and activities site. Via the official site, the admission tickets cost €16. It’s the same price on both GetYourGuide and Tiqets.
Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tours
The third option is good for availability, less good for price. If you’re prepared to visit Mont-Saint-Michel as part of a guided tour, there are tours available from the nearby town of Beauvoir.
These Mont-Saint-Michel tours include Abbey tickets, and last around two hours.
When I checked for tomorrow – a Saturday in the middle of August, remember – tickets were available at 10am and 2pm. Crucially, these Mont-Saint-Michel tours were available for two people, not just one.
That makes it an option for couples.
How much do Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey tours cost?
The downside of booking a Mont-Saint-Michel tour, rather than Abbey admission tickets, is that they cost more. You’ll get more insight from the guide’s commentary, but it’ll cost you nearly four times as much.
These guided tours of Mont-Saint-Michel from Beauvoir cost €59. You can check availability and book here.
