Limited metered street parking is available on 6th Street and Wilshire Boulevard. Visitors must adhere strictly to posted parking restrictions, as towing is common in this area during peak afternoon hours.
How long to spend at LACMA
A standard visit to the current exhibition spaces and outdoor installations typically takes two to three hours. This timeframe accounts for viewing the major works in the BCAM and Resnick Pavilion buildings.
Visitors who also wish to see the adjacent La Brea Tar Pits or the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures should plan for a full-day itinerary. The outdoor installations Urban Light and Levitated Mass are accessible without a ticket and add approximately 30 minutes to a visit.
Accessibility at LACMA
LACMA is fully accessible to wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility. All active gallery buildings include elevator access, and the central plaza level is designed with flat, paved surfaces for level entry.
Manual wheelchairs are provided free of charge at the Ticket Office on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible restrooms are located in the BCAM and Resnick Pavilion, and the Pritzker Garage includes designated parking for Blue Badge holders.
What to see at LACMA
Urban Light is a permanent installation at the museum’s entrance featuring 202 restored cast-iron antique street lamps. It is accessible 24 hours a day and does not require a museum ticket.
The Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM) is a three-storey building currently housing the museum’s modern and contemporary collections. It features large-scale installations and works by artists such as Richard Serra and Barbara Kruger.
The Resnick Pavilion is an open-plan, single-level gallery space used for major rotating exhibitions. It currently hosts a variety of temporary shows ranging from historic artefacts to modern multimedia art.
Levitated Mass is an outdoor sculpture consisting of a 340-ton granite boulder suspended over a concrete trench. Visitors can walk through the trench underneath the boulder.
