Emirates flies direct from Dubai to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide – with connections from several European cities.
Flights to Australia from Europe
For travellers from Europe, the three large gulf airlines are often the best and cheapest options for flying to Australia. This is partly because they fly from several European cities, but mainly because they fly to several Australian cities.
Many airlines that connect Europe to Australia only land in Sydney and maybe Melbourne. What makes the Middle Eastern three – Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways – so useful is that they land in other Australian state capitals, too.
Emirates flights to Australia
Of the three, Emirates has been flying to Australia for the longest time. As of July 2025, Emirates flies directly to five Australian capital cities from its hub in Dubai – one of the world’s great stopover cities.
The five Australian cities Emirates flies to are:
- Sydney
- Melbourne
- Brisbane
- Perth
- Adelaide
Why visit Adelaide?
Of these Emirates destinations, the most unusual for international airlines is Adelaide, the capital of South Australia.
Much of South Australia is dry, desert outback, but the south-eastern corner around Adelaide has plenty to offer. Within a couple of hours of Adelaide, you can be enjoying wildlife on Kangaroo Island, wine-tasting in the McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley or kayaking with pelicans along the Coorong.
