If doing a day trip to Verona from Venice, then you ideally want to be on one of the faster Frecciarossa trains. These high speed trains go from Venice to Verona in as little as 55 minutes.

Prices on the Venice to Verona trains vary depending on speed of service, time of day and how far in advance you book.
Looking a week in advance, I found tickets on the slower services costing from €10.35. Tickets on the faster Frecciarossa Venice to Verona train service cost from €15.90. It’s worth paying that extra few euros.
