Concessions, rentals, and the beach house generally follow this same seasonal window, so facilities are limited outside summer months.

Inside North Avenue Beach: what to see

The beach house is the centrepiece of the site, a 22,000-square-foot, Art Moderne building designed to resemble a docked ocean liner; the current structure was built in 1999, replacing the original 1940s WPA-era building. The first North Avenue Beach House, dedicated in 1940, was funded through the federal Works Progress Administration as part of a wider expansion of Lincoln Park.

Castaways Bar and Grill occupies much of the beach house, with a ground-floor ice cream café and casual burger stand, plus a rooftop bar serving appetisers, salads, and drinks with lake views.

Equipment rental operators line the beach for kayaking, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, and jet skiing, alongside a bike rental and repair stand and an open-air sports facility offering roller hockey and dodgeball.

Distance swimmers can use the dedicated lanes at beaches 3 and 4, just north of the boathouse, running parallel to the shore rather than within the main supervised swim area.
