How to get to Fort Canning Park
The most direct route is Fort Canning MRT station on the Downtown Line, using Exit B, which leads straight to the park’s spiral staircase entrance. This is the closest station, with no significant walk required.
Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, a major interchange, and Clarke Quay MRT station are both a short walk away. Several bus services stop along Hill Street and Canning Rise, close to the park’s main entrances.
Parking at Fort Canning Park
Fort Canning Park has three on-site car parks: Carpark A with 46 car lots, Carpark B with 36 car lots, and Carpark C with 60 car lots and coach parking. Motorcycle lots are also available at all three car parks.
Carpark C is the largest and includes space for coaches, making it suitable for group visits. Rates follow standard public car park pricing and are best checked on arrival.
How long to spend at Fort Canning Park
Most visitors spend 1 to 3 hours at Fort Canning Park. This allows time for the main gardens, viewpoints, and one heritage gallery.
Visitors adding the Battlebox tour or a full walk through all nine historical gardens should allow closer to half a day. Guided heritage tours run on Saturdays and take 90 to 120 minutes.
Accessibility at Fort Canning Park
Fort Canning Park is wheelchair accessible, though the terrain is hilly with several stepped pathways. Wheelchair access is available only from the drop-off point at the Cox Terrace roundabout.
Visitors with mobility needs should plan routes around the flatter areas near Fort Canning Centre, since the spiral staircase and steepest garden paths involve stairs. Restrooms are available at Fort Canning Centre, close to the Cox Terrace entrance.

What to see at Fort Canning Park
The Fort Canning Tree Tunnel, a spiral staircase framed by tree canopy, is the park’s most photographed spot. It stands at the northern end, near Fort Canning Road and Canning Rise.
Fort Gate, a 19th-century colonial gateway, is one of the few surviving structures from the original hilltop fort. Nearby lie the remains of a former Christian cemetery and British army barracks.
The Spice Garden recreates Singapore’s early experimental plantation, with over 180 varieties of herbs and spices. It traces the site’s role in the regional spice trade.
The ASEAN Sculpture Garden displays works from ASEAN member countries, alongside nine themed historical gardens across the park. Each garden reflects a different era of the hill’s 700-year history.
The Battlebox, a WWII underground command bunker, marks the site where British forces decided to surrender Singapore in 1942. Visitors descend nine metres underground to explore original rooms and corridors.
