The Technik Museum Speyer is one of Europe’s largest private technology museums — over 150,000 square metres on the edge of the historic city of Speyer in Rhineland-Palatinate. It’s home to the largest aerospace exhibition on the continent including an original Soviet space shuttle.
This guide was updated in June 2026: Older visitor reviews and aggregator listings still quote the combined museum-and-IMAX adult ticket at €14–€20; the current official price is €30 for adults (museum + IMAX) and €25 for museum only. The museum is also running jubilee week promotions from 6 June 2026, with a free IMAX documentary included with every regular day pass — not reflected in any existing guide. You can book through GetYourGuide to arrange tickets before you arrive.

What to see at the Technik Museum Speyer
The Space Exhibition “Apollo and Beyond” is the museum’s defining attraction — 5,000 square metres covering the full arc of space exploration. The centrepiece is the original Soviet Buran space shuttle, the only one on public display outside Russia, alongside authentic space suits, capsules, and moon rock from NASA missions.
The Boeing 747-230 “Schleswig-Holstein” is a former Lufthansa aircraft mounted on the museum roof. Visitors walk through the fuselage and can descend via a working slide from the aircraft body to the ground — the most photographed experience at Speyer.
The U9 submarine is an original German Navy vessel moored in the museum grounds and open for visitors to explore inside. Note: it was closed 9–11am on 10 June 2026 for filming; check the official site for any further closures.
The motorcycles exhibition fills a large hall with approximately 170 historic machines, covering everything from early 20th-century pioneers to post-war icons and racing bikes.
The Museum Wilhelmsbau holds mechanical musical instruments, vintage fashion, dolls, and decorative objects — a distinctive contrast to the heavy machinery elsewhere, and an attraction in its own right.
The IMAX DOME Cinema has one of the largest dome screens in Europe. Documentary and science films run throughout the day; admission is included cost-effectively in the museum+IMAX combined ticket.
