Five great things to do in the Algarve

How to get to Slide & Splash

The most practical way to reach Slide & Splash is by car, as the park is located on the EN125 between Portimão and Lagoa with clear road signage. From the A22 (Via do Infante) motorway, exit at Lagoa/Estombar and follow signs for the park on the EN125 towards Portimão. Journey times by car: approximately 20 minutes from Portimão, 25 minutes from Carvoeiro, 30 minutes from Albufeira, and 40 minutes from Lagos.

By public transport, Vamus bus routes 13 and 14 (Albufeira–Portimão) stop near the park, as does route 113 (Portimão–Messines). Route 51 (Lagos–Albufeira) stops at Lagoa bus station, from where routes 7, 103, or 113 continue to the park (approximately 4 minutes), or it is a 25-minute walk. The nearest train station is Estombar-Lagoa on the Algarve regional line (Vila Real de Santo António–Lagos), which is a 15-minute walk from the park. The park recommends taxi or Uber as the quickest non-car option; current timetables for Vamus buses are at vamusalgarve.pt and for trains at cp.pt.

Parking at Slide & Splash

Slide & Splash has a free car park on site. The car park has spaces for both cars and coaches and is unsurveilled — the park advises against leaving valuables in vehicles. Lockers are available inside the park for securing belongings. The car park can fill quickly during July and August; arriving at opening time (10:00) is the most reliable way to secure a space on peak days.

How long to spend at Slide & Splash

Slide & Splash is a full-day attraction. Most visitors arrive at or shortly after opening and stay until mid-to-late afternoon, typically five to eight hours. The park has a large number of attractions across different areas, and queues for the most popular slides grow significantly from mid-morning in July and August. Arriving at 10:00 allows access to the busiest rides before queues build, and means sun-lounger positions are easier to secure.

Accessibility at Slide & Splash

Slide & Splash has partial accessibility for visitors with reduced mobility. The park’s walkways and access routes to services are designed to accommodate guests with reduced mobility. Visitors with a wheelchair suitable for use in water may use it in the Laguna (swimming pool) and the Tropical Paradise children’s area, both of which have access ramps. The slides, however, require a level of physical ability to use safely — specifically the ability to walk independently — and are subject to individual assessment. Visitors with a disability over 80% who cannot use the attractions enter free of charge.

What to see and do at Slide & Splash

Body slides and mat slides form the core of the park’s offer. Most require a minimum height of 1 metre. These include a range of open and partially enclosed flume-style slides of varying speeds and gradients. The weight limit on body and mat slides is 136 kg per person.

Tube slides accommodate both single and double inflatable rings. Single tubes require a minimum height of 1.20 m; double tubes allow riders between 0.90 m and 1.20 m when accompanied by an adult. The maximum weight is 100 kg on a single tube and 200 kg on a double tube.

The Big Wave (wave ride) accommodates two or four riders simultaneously, with a maximum combined weight of 320 kg. It is one of the park’s higher-capacity group attractions.

The Big Fall (capsules) is an enclosed drop attraction requiring a minimum height of 1.25 m. It is not recommended for visitors who are claustrophobic or have heart conditions.

The Laguna is the park’s main swimming pool, with depths ranging from 1.0 m to 1.60 m. It is open to all visitors and accessible by ramp for wheelchair users.

Tropical Paradise is the dedicated children’s area, designed for children up to 12 years of age. It includes smaller slides, spray features, and shallow pools (0.2 m–0.4 m depth). A ramp provides wheelchair access.

Children’s Foam Slides (Brandinhas) are small slides for children up to a height of 1.20 m, located within the children’s zone.

The Jacuzzi has a minimum permitted height of 1.40 m.

Additional services in the park include restaurants and snack areas, a shop, a Fish Spa and massage service (Aquafeeling, next to The Big Wave), waterproof tattoos and hair braids from June to September, and the new Splash Memories automatic photo service which captures images on the rides.
